About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technician to join our team at Newport News Behavioral Health Center. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our patients, helping them to achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe and report physical and behavioral symptoms to the Registered Nurse, under their supervision.
  • Participate in the implementation of physical care and therapeutic activities, working closely with the nursing team.
  • Assist in planning and implementing treatment programs for patients, including functional behavioral assessment and behavior intervention plans.
  • Provide crisis intervention strategies, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse situations and prioritize safety concerns.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in an area of human services, or a High school diploma or GED equivalent, plus a minimum of 2 years of experience in a human service field.
