We are currently seeking a skilled Mental Health Professional to join our team as an Adolescent Therapy Specialist at our Newport News Behavioral Health Center.



This is an exciting opportunity to work in a residential treatment facility (RTF) that serves boys and girls, ages 11 to 18, who are struggling with psychiatric and substance use issues. Our treatment services are designed to help residents develop positive behaviors and coping mechanisms to use at home and in their community. The 108-bed facility is secure and comfortable, allowing residents to focus on their recovery. We also have a new acute care facility that serves children and teens who suffer from a mental health crisis.



Job Summary

As an Adolescent Therapy Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of inpatient, continuing care, and family services. This includes providing clinical support to other staff members, conducting interventions, conducting psychosocial assessments, developing treatment plans, and conducting group, individual, and family therapy. You will also work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure that our patients receive comprehensive care that addresses their physical, emotional, and behavioral needs.



Responsibilities


  • Provide clinical support to other staff members, including psychologists, social workers, and nurses
  • Conduct interventions, including individual and group therapy sessions
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments to identify the patient's strengths, needs, and goals
  • Develop treatment plans that address the patient's physical, emotional, and behavioral needs
  • Conduct group, individual, and family therapy sessions
  • Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care


Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mental Health Professional who has a Master's degree and is licensed or licensed eligible in the State of Virginia in the field of psychology or a related field. You should have at least two years of experience conducting group, individual, and family therapy using a variety of treatment modalities, as well as experience working with adolescents. We prefer candidates who have experience working in a residential treatment facility or a similar setting.
