About the Job

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Veterans Affairs as a Registered Nurse in our Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). The SICU team provides critical care to patients with life-threatening conditions, and we are seeking a skilled and compassionate nurse to join our team. As a Registered Nurse in the SICU, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and promoting a culture of safety and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in the SICU
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing evidence-based interventions
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, including vital signs, medications, and treatment outcomes
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field required; master's degree preferred
  • Current registered nursing license in any U.S. state or territory
  • At least 1 year of experience in critical care nursing, preferably in an intensive care unit
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

Salary Range: $76,295 - $149,436 per year
