Reports To: Store Manager

Position Summary: The Assistant Store Leader is a pivotal role aimed at nurturing talent within our organization. Candidates should exhibit a strong dedication to personal growth and contribute to both individual store performance and the overall success of the company. This position is tailored for future leaders who are enthusiastic about enhancing their management capabilities and advancing in their careers. As an Assistant Store Leader, you will participate in an extensive training program designed to provide practical experience across various facets of store operations.

General Purpose: The Assistant Store Leader plays a crucial role in aiding the Store Manager with the daily management of the store, acquiring knowledge of all managerial duties, and exemplifying exceptional customer service. The goal is to ensure complete customer satisfaction, engage with the community through volunteer initiatives, and generate a return on assets that secures the long-term success of our employees and the company. You will act as a representative of our "Living Brand" by fostering relationships with our customers.

Role Qualifications:
  • Aspirations to become a Store Manager
  • Capability to manage a store within a 6-12 month timeframe
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Dependable transportation
  • Willingness to travel daily between various locations as needed
Position Responsibilities:
  • Exceed expectations aligned with the Family Express culture, including relationship building, promoting the Living Brand, and serving as a product brand advocate
  • Complete all financial, banking, and auditing tasks according to company-approved procedures
  • Effectively operate and maintain all store equipment
  • Ensure that minimum image standards are consistently met
  • Assist the Store Manager in recruiting and interviewing qualified candidates
  • Support the Store Manager in leading, motivating, training, and coaching all team members
  • Maintain store security and safety for customers and employees, promptly reporting any incidents
  • Ensure cleanliness, safety, and image standards are upheld throughout the store
  • Maximize sales and profit margins through effective marketing and product display
  • Assist with managerial duties in the absence of the Store Manager
  • Participate in development courses and training requirements
  • Attend monthly Associate Manager meetings and Living Brand University
  • Complete the Associate Manager Checklist and other assigned duties

Nonessential Skills and Experience:
  • 2-4 year college degree preferred
  • Previous experience in retail is advantageous
Reporting To This Position: No direct reports

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Physical Demands: This role requires standing for extended periods, working shifts of up to ten hours, and the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Work Environment: Flexibility to work various shifts and days is necessary. Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures for short periods and exposure to cleaning solvents is required.
