Position Overview

PRN SUPERVISORY ROLE FOR SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST IN THE CHARLOTTE MARKET - NATIONAL CERTIFICATION IS MANDATORY.

The Surgical Technologist operates under the guidance of a surgeon and a registered nurse to ensure the safe and efficient execution of invasive surgical operations. This role is crucial in maintaining a secure operating room environment, ensuring that all equipment is functioning correctly, and that surgical procedures are performed under optimal conditions to enhance patient safety. Surgical technologists are skilled in the principles and practices of sterile and aseptic techniques, combining their knowledge of human anatomy, surgical methods, and the use of tools and technologies to assist physicians in performing invasive therapeutic and diagnostic tasks.

Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
    • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent military training (68D - Operating Room Specialist). For those not graduating from an accredited program or lacking certification, additional skills may be necessary. Online credits for Surgical Tech programs are not accepted.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of prior experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA is required.
  • Additional Skills Required:
    • New graduates must secure certification within 12 months of employment. Failure to do so may lead to termination. Ability to complete both generic and department-specific skill validations and competency assessments is essential.
    • Exhibit effective customer service skills, both verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, strong interpersonal skills, and proficient time management abilities.
