The ECMO Specialist RN plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional care to patients requiring Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) therapy. This position is vital within the ECMO Intensive Care Unit, which is recognized for its excellence in patient outcomes and innovative practices.
Sign-On Bonus: A competitive $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for full-time candidates with a minimum of 2 years of acute care experience.
Responsibilities:
- Priming and initiating ECMO therapy.
- Independently performing circuit exchanges and emergency interventions.
- Operating various ECLS components and pumps proficiently.
- Transporting ECLS patients intra- and inter-hospital as part of a dedicated team.
Patient Demographics:
The ECMO ICU caters to a diverse patient population, including those undergoing VA, VV, VP, VA-V, RVAD, and ECPR therapies. Common conditions treated include postcardiotomy syndrome, cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure, and post-cardiac arrest recovery.
Staffing Ratios: The ECMO Specialist maintains a patient-to-pump ratio of 1:3, ensuring high-quality care.
Department Highlights:
- 10 dedicated ECMO beds within the ICU.
- 24/7 coverage by specialized ICU physicians and Advanced Practice Nurses.
