About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Curtiss-Wright EMD in Cheswick, PA. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing electro-mechanical components and systems, developing drawings and specifications for new and modified designs, and supporting manufacturing and testing of electro-mechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Analysis: Design and analyze electro-mechanical components and systems, conduct studies and testing on new and modified designs, and develop design information for use in drawings and specifications.
  • Engineering Support: Provide engineering design, maintenance support, and training for new product and equipment, assess new and existing equipment to optimize design efficiency, safety, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Experimentation and Testing: Design and conduct experiments, collect data, and interpret results, conduct analysis and write analysis and test reports, and reconcile differences between predicted values and actual results.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of engineering activities, including documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical or other presentations.
  • Equipment Design and Development: Design new equipment and machinery, assist in building, installing, debugging, and testing new equipment to ensure production capabilities.
  • Maintenance and Safety: Determine maintenance schedules, procedures, and safety standards for current and new equipment to ensure equipment is operated, maintained, and serviced properly.
  • Technical Innovation: Determine technical objectives and develop innovative, practical solutions to advance technical engineering problems, provide technical support to failure investigations and bid responses.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering; advance degree a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 2-10 years work experience dealing with manufacture and design of engineered products.
  • Skills: Experience with rotating equipment and machine designs (motors, pumps, generators, and propulsors), GD&T, CAD systems, CAE systems, FEA methods, ability to create models and drawings, present design reviews, and perform trade studies and design reviews.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Ability to coordinate multiple project responsibilities, be a team player, and have knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to perform analysis and studies with strong attention to details in a fast-paced environment.
  • Citizenship and Security Clearance: Must be a sole US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
