Job Description

As a key member of the City of Renton's IT team, the Enterprise Applications Manager will oversee and manage the work of the application systems and support section. This role requires strong project management skills, including creating and executing short and long-term plans, managing and monitoring the section's budget, and supervising staff. The successful candidate will also take an active role in coaching and mentoring employees to enhance their skills, recognizing and reinforcing their development and improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the progress of development and/or implementation of business system technologies in support of the Information Technology department.
  • Develop and manage improvements to the project management lifecycle.
  • Maintain a leadership role in Business Case Analysis with City users from all departments to determine City application requirements.
  • Coordinate the City's Request for Proposal (RFP) process for technology procurement. Develop RFP documents, distribute to prospective vendors, and evaluate RFP responses.
  • Review technology contracts following IT Contracting Process.
  • Manage, communicate and troubleshoot systems issues and risks.
  • Ensure successful implementation and maintenance of business systems.
  • Maintain knowledge of web servers such as Apache and Microsoft IIS.
  • Manage business systems lifecycles.
  • Coordinate the transition of support responsibilities to the appropriate Departmental staff.
  • Communicate and collaborate with vendors and City Departmental staff on business systems activities and projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business needs assessment analysis, design, programming, procurement, implementation, and support.
  • Or minimum 9 years of relevant education and experience.
  • 4 years supervisory experience.
  • Successful passing of a required background check and national fingerprint-based records check.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a typical office setting with moderate noise levels. The successful candidate will be required to work evening and/or weekend hours as needed and may be required to attend night meetings.
