Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Truck Driver to join our team at the City of Moorhead. As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for operating various trucks and tractors, hauling snow, street sweepings, sand, and other materials. You will also be operating snow plows and ice control equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate trucks on road maintenance and street construction crews, hauling snow, street sweepings, sand, and other materials.
  • Operate snow plowing and ice control equipment, plowing snow, applying salt/sand, flushing streets and sidewalks.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspection on equipment, including trucks, plow equipment, power tools, small engines, rollers.
  • Assist with operating high-pressure steam boiler.
  • Operate skid steer loaders, chain saws, jackhammers, crack routers, pavement scarifiers, asphalt kettles, plate packers, and various other equipment.
  • Adjust manhole castings, including placing rings, risers, castings, and covers.
  • Chip ice and clear debris from catch basins; fill potholes.
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of street signs.
  • Maintain athletic fields, including lining fields, installing hockey equipment, and flooding ice rinks.
  • Perform safety checks on shop equipment, park maintenance vehicles, and specialized turf care equipment.
  • Maintain parking lots, park grounds, and bike trails by shoveling snow, mowing grass, edging, and performing miscellaneous repairs.
  • Prepare and spray chemicals to control weeds in City common areas, parks, and athletic fields.
  • Oversee and train seasonal employees.
  • Perform traffic control/proper signage at work sites.
  • Perform interior building maintenance, including painting, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Maintain records and files.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 6 months experience performing construction work or related.
Special Requirements
  • Valid commercial driver's license with Class B and air brake endorsement.
  • Tanker endorsement within one year of hire.
  • Special Boiler License within one year of hire.
Working Conditions

The Truck Driver position requires regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, and occasional exertion of over 100 pounds of force. Work regularly requires speaking or hearing and lifting, frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, and repetitive motions. Occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling and tasting or smelling.
