Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Truck Driver to join our Public Works Department in the City of Moorhead. As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for operating various trucks and tractors to perform road maintenance and street construction tasks, including hauling snow, street sweepings, and other materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate trucks and tractors on road maintenance and street construction crews
  • Haul snow, street sweepings, sand, wood chips, asphalt, and other materials
  • Operate snow plowing and ice control equipment, including plows, salt/sand applicators, and street sweepers
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspection on equipment, including trucks, plow equipment, power tools, and small engines
  • Assist with operating high-pressure steam boiler and other specialized equipment
  • Perform safety checks on shop equipment, park maintenance vehicles, and specialized turf care equipment
  • Maintain parking lots, park grounds, and bike trails by shoveling snow, mowing grass, edging, and performing miscellaneous repairs
  • Prepare and spray chemicals to control weeds in City common areas, parks, and athletic fields
  • Oversee and train seasonal employees
  • Perform traffic control and proper signage at work sites
  • Perform interior building maintenance, including painting, plumbing, and carpentry
  • Maintain records and files
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6 months experience performing construction work or related
  • Valid commercial driver's license with Class B and air brake endorsement
  • Tanker endorsement within one year of hire
  • Special Boiler License within one year of hire
Working Conditions

The Truck Driver position requires regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, and occasional exertion of over 100 pounds of force. Work requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, and repetitive motions. Work also requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception, night vision, and peripheral vision.
