Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at the State of South Carolina. As a Residential Care Provider, you will work in a medically fragile unit under direct supervision, providing assistance to professional staff and delivering direct care to individuals with intellectual disabilities and special needs in an ICF-IID setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide physical support to assist consumers with daily living activities, such as transfers, eating, drinking, bathing, dressing, using the toilet, standing, walking, or exercising.
  • Apply durable medical equipment, such as slings, stockings, or support bandages, under the direction of a nurse or physician.
  • Responsible for turning and repositioning individuals.
  • Review consumer's dining plan to ensure the appropriate consistency/diet is served at all meals.
  • Ensure consumers take nutritional supplements.
  • Measure and record food and liquid intake/output reports changes to medical or nursing staff.
  • Record vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration rate, as directed by medical or nursing staff.
  • Examine consumers to detect issues requiring medical care, such as wounds, bruises, or blood in the urine.
  • Clean and sanitize consumers' rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
  • Change bed linens and/or make beds.
  • Restock consumer rooms with personal hygiene items, such as towels, washcloths, soap, or toilet paper.
  • Stock or issue medical supplies, such as dressing packs or treatment trays.
  • Ensure consumer rooms, closets, and dressers are neat and organized.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Requires certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Knowledge of assistive nursing procedures.
  • Knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health, and safety practices.
  • Knowledge of the human anatomy.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail.
  • Ability to make accurate technical and physical observations of individuals.
  • Ability to accurately communicate and record observations.
  • Ability to carefully read and follow directions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift and move individuals.
  • General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Ability to work in a group home-like setting or ICF.
  • Physical ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.
