Overview:
The Department of Chemistry within the College of Natural Science at Michigan State University is seeking two outstanding candidates to fulfill the role of instructors for the Undergraduate General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry Laboratory Program. This position is a fixed-term appointment for a duration of nine months. The selected individuals will collaborate with a vibrant team to deliver laboratory instruction and support the university's initiatives aimed at improving pedagogical strategies in scientific education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct four laboratory sections across the fall and spring terms
  • Engage with the Chemistry Laboratory instructional team
  • Possibly assist in the training of graduate teaching assistants
  • Participate in the enhancement of teaching methodologies in science and mathematics disciplines

Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in Chemistry or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated teaching experience or potential, along with a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Understanding of laboratory safety protocols
  • Experience with Green Chemistry practices
  • Prior experience teaching at the undergraduate level
