Job Summary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor animal health and behavior, and communicate with supervisors and veterinary staff as needed.
  • Maintain high-performance levels of animal care and guest interactions.
  • Participate in the improvement of area policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure the highest standards of care.
  • Support and participate in collaborative efforts related to animal care, including training, enrichment, research, and education.
  • Actively participate in workshops, seminars, and conferences to continually improve job knowledge and professional development.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years' animal care experience, with paid experience at an AZA-accredited facility preferred.
  • Good communication skills, enthusiasm for interacting with the public, and willingness to give regular talks to guests.
  • Experience with operant conditioning and enrichment techniques is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral skills, with the ability to use light power tools after suitable training.
  • Experience with domestic hoof stock and contact yards is preferred.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and have the physical ability to perform strenuous work.
