Job Title: Lead Animal Behavior Management Specialist

Emory University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Animal Behavior Management Specialist to join our team at the Emory National Primate Research Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating behavioral management techniques for our nonhuman primate population.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement behavioral management plans to ensure the welfare and well-being of our nonhuman primate population.
  • Collaborate with animal care and veterinary staff to ensure the highest quality of animal care and welfare.
  • Design and implement enrichment programs to promote animal behavior and welfare.
  • Conduct behavioral research to evaluate the effectiveness of enrichment programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement training programs for animal care staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality animal care.
  • Monitor and report on animal behavior and welfare, and make recommendations for improvements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as biology, psychology, or zoology.
  • At least two years of experience in animal behavior management or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with animal behavior research and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of animal behavior and welfare principles and practices.
