We are seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety during surgical procedures.
Responsibilities- Prepare the operating room for cases, selecting and checking case carts and preference cards for correct instruments and supplies.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons and other team members, responding promptly to requests for special equipment and supplies.
- Assist the operative team, recognizing emergency situations and performing emergency procedures as directed.
- Pass and track instruments, sutures, and supplies during procedures, labeling all medication and solutions on the sterile field.
- Care for specimens to prevent loss or damage, using caution when handling to ensure proper anatomical identification.
- Successful completion of an accredited school of surgical technology and certification as a surgical technologist.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and maintenance of AST membership, required educational units, and AST certification.
- Thorough knowledge of surgical technology and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
