Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms, providing high-quality patient care, and collaborating with our surgical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare the operating room for cases, selecting and checking case carts and preference cards for correct instruments and supplies.
  • Anticipate the needs of surgeons and other team members, responding promptly to requests for special equipment and supplies.
  • Pass and track instruments, sutures, and supplies during procedures, labeling all medication and solutions on the sterile field.
  • Assist in completing procedures, participating in closing counts, and ensuring the proper disposal of sharps.
  • Participate in the maintenance and rotation of stock for the department, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of an accredited school of surgical technology, with a surgical technologist certification from a nationally recognized certifying body.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with ongoing education and training to maintain current knowledge and skills.
  • Membership in the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST), with ongoing education and training to maintain current knowledge and skills.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, working 36 hours per week in a fast-paced operating room environment. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
