Job Title: R&D / Quality Support

This role is part of the Pet department meat rooms, focusing on grinding, dicing, handling, and processing raw and cooked meat daily.

Job Summary:

The Operations Technician will serve the Pet platform and other various platforms, specifically in the raw and cooked meat rooms (air-conditioned), and will perform setup, operations, and disassembly related to the Pet platform.

Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate equipment, understand food safety requirements, and perform risk assessments.
  • Conduct basic analytical tests, basic troubleshooting, and skill building on basic unit operations.
  • Agilely adapt to changing work needs and flex across teams within a platform.
  • Perform equipment sanitation and basic equipment setup activities.
  • Develop basic technical skills in product, process, and/or packaging.
  • Consistently and repeatedly lift, manipulate, and transport ingredients or equipment up to 55 lbs.
Requirements:
  • High School Degree Required.
  • 3-5 years of directly relatable experience and/or 2-Year Degree Preferred.
  • Steel Toe Boots/Shoes required.
  • Ability to lift, manipulate, transport up to 55 lbs.
  • Basic computer/technology skills (Office Suite, other computer programs).
  • Strong communication skills with peers and with customers.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and human safety.
  • Ability to work in hot/warm/cool conditions within the plant.
Schedule:

This position is scheduled five days per week, 8 hours per day from the hours of 6AM - 2PM. Actual days of the work week, start times, and end times may change based on business needs.

Physical/Other Potential Requirements:
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net, and gloves when required.
  • Ability to lift, manipulate, and transport up to 55 lbs.
  • Ability to work in hot/warm/cool conditions within the plant.
  • Ability to work with care around hazardous compounds/gases.
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders/stairs and maintain three points of contact.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including Standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting over surfaces.
  • Willing to use powered lifts (stackers, pallet jacks).
  • Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery.
  • Willing and able to adhere to all safety standards.
  • Willing and able to adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure Food Safety.
  • This position involves potential exposure to common allergens including but not limited to milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame.
  • Ability to work around equipment that may have electromagnetic interference.
