Position Overview
The part-time Custodian is tasked with maintaining cleanliness in designated areas using available tools and equipment. The role involves performing all necessary cleaning duties to ensure the upkeep of floors and surfaces within the institution.
Work Schedule
This position operates on the 3rd shift, specifically from Sunday night through Thursday night, with hours from 10:30 PM to 3:30 AM.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain assigned areas in a tidy and sanitary condition, which includes vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, and restoring both carpeted and hard surface floors.
- Dust, polish, and vacuum furniture, doors, and walls; clean light fixtures and windows; and manage waste and recycling disposal.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of special events, ensuring the security of all property during the assigned shift.
- Complete tasks efficiently and in a timely manner, adhering to established custodial procedures and guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow custodians and supervisors, communicating any issues or concerns to the Lead Facilities Custodian or Facilities Superintendent.
- Follow all safety regulations as mandated by federal, state, local, and departmental standards.
- Participate in required training sessions as necessary.
Additional Duties
- In the absence of other custodians, provide support at various locations as needed.
- Prepare work orders for any repairs or adjustments required on equipment and fixtures within assigned areas.
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience with custodial equipment, such as floor scrubbers and buffers, is preferred.
- Six months of relevant experience in similar roles is desirable.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion is required.
- Must possess the physical capability to fulfill the responsibilities outlined above.
- Proficiency in reading and writing in English is necessary.
- Dependability and punctuality in reporting to work are essential.
- Ability to make informed decisions and follow through on assignments is crucial.
- Must maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
