Job Summary
General Motors is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to oversee and coordinate launch activities, ensuring readiness for the production of new products and manufacturing processes. This role involves providing direction to a small group of technical employees and collaborating with plants and/or Manufacturing Engineering Staffs to handle engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute allocated work following standard launch processes
- Oversee process development, equipment installation, debug, runoff, validation, and continuous improvement activities
- Support the production team and skilled trades with data for resolving other issues
- Identify and execute projects to support achievement of departmental business objectives and continuous improvement of safety, quality, cost, and reliability
- Evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment
- Analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
- Propose and evaluate processes for equipment in assigned area
- Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
- Interact regularly with design, product, and manufacturing engineering staffs
- Maintenance/Production Guidance (technical troubleshooting and direction, safety counsel)
- Provide direction to engineering support group and vendors
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and/or equivalent experience with at least 5 years of engineering experience
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively lead and manage a team of people
- Proficiency in project management, including planning, organizing, and executing projects to achieve desired outcomes
- Ability to effectively manage team workload, ensuring tasks and responsibilities are assigned and completed in a timely manner
- Engineering experience, particularly in process or controls, with a solid understanding of engineering principles and practices
- Excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues in a proactive and efficient manner
