Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Operations Manager will oversee the production processes within a designated business unit, ensuring the safe and efficient manufacturing of high-quality waste handling equipment. This role is pivotal in managing operations from raw material intake to final assembly, employing Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and drive continuous improvement. Strong leadership capabilities in team development, goal setting, and strategic planning are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Investigate and resolve issues that may impact production timelines or product quality.
- Establish and maintain high-quality standards for all production staff, ensuring proper documentation of processes.
- Review and adjust production work orders as necessary.
- Plan and execute production work orders effectively.
- Implement layout improvements for work cells and centers.
- Lead Lean initiatives, including Visual Factory, Kanbans, and Kaizens, aligned with business strategies.
- Ensure consistent attendance and availability during regular and extended working hours as required.
- Participate in weekly scheduling and daily production meetings, ensuring effective communication of changes.
- Promote a positive workforce culture and address team member concerns proactively.
- Engage in studies to recommend improvements in scrap reduction, cycle time, and cost efficiency.
- Contribute to quality and safety enhancement initiatives.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficient in process mapping, time studies, and workstation setups.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with JD Edwards is a plus.
- Team-oriented with a proactive approach to work.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Adept at systematic analysis of issues and situations.
- Ability to provide innovative and practical solutions through strategic thinking.
