Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Department Technician to join our team at Swedish First Hill. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide essential support to our nursing and licensed independent practitioner staff, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP), anticipating their needs and ensuring seamless communication.
  • Perform basic patient care tasks, including vital signs, patient hygiene, mobility assistance, specimen collection, and preparation of equipment and supplies for procedures.
  • Assist with orthopedic procedures, such as plaster splint applications and other orthopedic splints/devices, under the guidance of a licensed professional.
  • Administer basic first aid measures, wound care, and irrigation, as well as apply dressings and other wound care treatments.
  • Monitor patient condition, reporting significant changes to the appropriate team member and ensuring timely interventions.
  • Operate various monitoring equipment, perform 12-lead ECGs, and recognize and respond to critical arrhythmias.
  • Communicate effectively with caregivers, patients, and families, providing compassionate support and assistance as needed.
  • Collect and process specimens, perform clinical testing, and document patient data accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including phlebotomy, inventory management, and supply ordering.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification required upon hire.
  • Washington Nursing Assistant Certification License or Washington Nursing Assistant Registered required upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association certification required upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Training in orthopedic technology desirable.
  • 2 years of EMT and/or 2 years of Emergency Department experience preferred.
