Job Summary:

The Grant Writer will report to the Grants & Strategic Partnerships Manager and work closely with the Development, Program, and Finance Departments to assist with prospective grants research, proposal writing, grant submissions, reporting, and stewardship of funders, and grants portfolio management. This role requires excellent writing skills, organizational abilities, and a passion for the Foundation's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Write, prepare, and submit grant requests to foundations, corporations, and government grantmakers, including applications, proposals, and letters of inquiry.
Solicit Finance and Program Departments to gather and analyze organizational, financial, budgetary, and programmatic information necessary for grant submissions and reports.
Maintain and steward a grants portfolio to meet annual fundraising goals.
Support Manager with creating budgets that meet funder requirements and align with Orangewood's fundraising and accounting practices.
Develop and implement a stewardship plan for all portfolio funders, including event invitations, touch-points, and on-site tours, and meetings with leadership and Program staff.
Maintain accurate and updated organizational, financial, and programmatic data to facilitate impact reports and updates to all funders.
Participate in regular team, supervisory, and partner meetings.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2-4+ years grant writing and non-profit organization experience.
Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in both team and self-directed situations.
Competency with Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems, including Microsoft Office applications, Instrumental, and Raisers Edge, or equivalent preferred.
Interest in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.
Ability to respect the confidentiality of donor and client files.
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
A working knowledge of Orangewood's mission and programs is required, along with professional understanding of fundraising objectives.
Possess a valid California driver's license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance.
Pre-employment screenings include criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, drug screen, and previous employment verification.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

Primarily an office job. Occasional driving to meetings/trainings. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending, and potentially lifting up to approximately 25 lbs.

Modification to work schedule may be made based on needs of the Foundation.
