MRI Imaging Specialist - Flexible Schedule - Daytime Hours
Compensation: $52.50 per hour
Role Summary:
This position is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care while utilizing advanced MRI technology to produce high-quality imaging results.
Key Responsibilities:
1. MRI Safety and Screening:
- Conduct thorough screenings prior to patient entry into the MRI area, ensuring all safety protocols are adhered to.
- Utilize appropriate safety equipment and maintain communication with patients throughout the imaging process.
- Monitor specific safety levels and instruct patients on necessary precautions during the procedure.
- Identify patients needing special considerations, such as GFR clearance or pregnancy waivers, and address these promptly.
2. Patient Preparation:
- Accurately identify patients and confirm their details before the procedure.
- Review and verify the accuracy of imaging requests and prepare patients for their exams, including providing necessary instructions.
3. Contrast Administration:
- Perform venipuncture for contrast administration while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Operate contrast injectors according to established protocols and ensure correct dosage is administered.
4. Image Acquisition:
- Assess imaging requests for appropriateness and select the correct equipment for optimal imaging results.
- Execute established MRI protocols with precision and ensure comprehensive anatomical coverage.
5. Workflow Management:
- Maintain scheduled appointment times and communicate any delays effectively.
- Ensure accurate charge entry and documentation of procedures performed.
6. Image Evaluation:
- Review MRI images for quality and completeness, making necessary adjustments as needed.
- Ensure that all relevant prior imaging and reports are accessible for comparison.
7. Emergency Response:
- Act swiftly in emergency situations, ensuring patient and staff safety.
- Be prepared to manage any urgent medical reactions or psychological needs of patients.
8. Infection Control:
- Follow all infection control protocols, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Properly dispose of medical waste and maintain cleanliness in all areas of the MRI suite.
9. Additional Duties:
- Assist in interventional procedures as needed and maintain inventory of medical supplies.
- Participate in departmental quality control initiatives and keep accurate logs of equipment maintenance.
10. Compliance:
- Adhere to all compliance requirements associated with the role.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program
- Minimum of 3 years of MRI experience (GE preferred)
Desired:
- ARRT Certification in Radiography
- ARRT Certification in MRI within one year of hire
- State License and CPR certification
- Commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
Work Environment:
This position requires a commitment to patient care and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
