Join Our Team of Innovators

KBR is seeking two highly motivated and talented research engineer interns to support the development of a mission concept for a space observatory based on fluidic shaping. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project that combines fluid dynamics, optics, and materials science.

Key Responsibilities:

Investigate ionic liquid reflectivity enhancements
Support development of liquid mirror surface disturbance and tidal effects models
Conduct experimental study of the thermal Marangoni effect in ionic liquids
Participate in 50-meter telescope concept development
Participate in the technology demonstration mission concept development

Requirements:

BS in Engineering and currently enrolled in a MS or higher degree program
Background in Chemistry and Physics: Thermal Systems, Fluid Mechanics, Experimental Physics

Preferred Skills:

Understanding of the thermal Marangoni effect in ionic liquids
Strong planning and organizational skills

Compensation:

$20.50/hr - $27.50/hr

This range is for the California area only. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
