Position Overview

The Laboratory Supervisor for Chemistry is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and activities of laboratory Analysts and Technicians. This role includes managing sample testing schedules, report preparation, and ensuring the upkeep of laboratory instruments and equipment. The Supervisor acts as a technical authority, guiding the team in analytical methodologies and data interpretation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of laboratory Analysts and Technicians.
  • Participate in the recruitment process alongside the Laboratory Manager, plan daily work assignments, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality output from the Chemistry Laboratory.
  • Guarantee that laboratory results are delivered as per client agreements.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO-17025, ISO-17020, ISO Guide 65, ISO-9001, and contribute to other relevant standards.
  • Provide technical expertise in study designs and analytical techniques.
  • Train Analysts in various analytical methods.
  • Draft and review protocols and reports, ensuring proper documentation of client sample tests and related projects.
  • Develop and validate analytical methodologies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Address client inquiries and complaints effectively.
  • Support Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service with technical information regarding testing and reporting.
  • Maintain technical documentation to support laboratory operations.
  • Complete laboratory tasks within established deadlines.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Keep accurate Laboratory Notebooks.
  • Assist in inventory management of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Adhere to internal policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Make daily operational decisions within the team.
  • Exercise authority in personnel matters, including scheduling and training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Analytical Chemistry environment, with hands-on experience in GC-MS, UPLC-MS, and/or ICP-MS.
  • Preferred experience in chromatography and nitrosamines testing.
  • At least 2 years of experience in protocol and report writing.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Master's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline is advantageous.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry within FDA-regulated laboratories, including GMP/GLP/GDP operations.
