The incumbent will exercise independent judgment and decision-making while adhering to federally mandated protocols in a dynamic, high-volume environment. Establishing and maintaining a respectful and collaborative relationship with colleagues and the public in a diverse setting is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Supervisory Duties:**
- Oversee and mentor team members, fostering motivation and providing training.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and maintain work schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Facilitate required training sessions and assist staff with specialized inquiries.
2. **Client Interaction:**
- Conduct nutritional assessments for both high-risk and low-risk clients.
- Analyze medical and anthropometric data to determine eligibility for nutritional services.
- Develop personalized nutritional care plans and prescribe appropriate food packages.
3. **Quality Assurance:**
- Implement quality control measures for client records and nutritional services.
- Utilize electronic tools for chart audits and provide feedback to staff for continuous improvement.
4. **Nutritional Education:**
- Ensure that WIC participants receive necessary nutrition education contacts.
- Collaborate with the Breastfeeding Coordinator to promote effective breastfeeding practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a licensed dietitian/nutritionist in the State of Florida or a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Flexibility to work across various sites and extended hours as needed.
- Willingness to engage in emergency duties during critical situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of breastfeeding principles and counseling techniques.
- Experience in Public Health, Community Nutrition, or WIC programs.
- Advanced degree in Dietetics, Public Health, or a related discipline.
