As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for overseeing the administration of various public benefits programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medical Assistance Programs, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Refugee Cash Assistance, Energy Assistance Programs, and Title IV-E Foster Care programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the public benefits programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve program outcomes, efficiency, and quality.
  • Supervise and train a team of staff members, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Collaborate with community partners, local jurisdictions, state and regional organizations, and national organizations to discuss public benefits programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage the program's budget and ensure appropriate fund allocation within established guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers, colleagues, staff, community partners, and the public.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in a field related to the assigned program.
  • Four (4) years related work experience, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a DSS/DFS eligibility unit as a senior worker with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Bi-lingual skills in Spanish and English.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

  • Pass pre-employment background check to include criminal, credit, CPS, and DMV.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Hold licenses required by law for assigned position.
  • Complete required County e-learning and MOAT training requirements.
  • Complete required supervisory training.
  • Obtain and hold certifications required by the Department.
