Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Organ Procurement team as an Organ Procurement Coordinator. This role will be responsible for coordinating the donation process, working closely with critical care teams to manage donor patients, and providing compassionate care to donor families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the donation process, ensuring timely and efficient organ placement
  • Work closely with critical care teams to manage donor patients, applying donor management strategies to optimize organ utilization
  • Provide compassionate care to donor families, monitoring, evaluating, and supporting the placement of life-saving gifts
  • Collaborate with hospital staff to positively impact the donation culture throughout UW Organ and Tissue Donation's service area
  • Work on a clinical team that always looks to improve processes and apply advanced practice techniques while ensuring excellence in care and meeting regulatory standards
Requirements
  • Graduate of a school of nursing or Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare-related field
  • 6 months of clinical experience with surgical, critical care, emergency services, or O.R. expertise
  • Critical care experience in pediatric, neurosurgery ICU, trauma, or medical ICU, with leadership as charge nurse, or resource nurse and experience with caring for donor patients and families
  • Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Wisconsin or may practice under a compact license per state regulations
  • BLS certification
