Job Summary

This role provides individualized medical care to assigned patients in person, electronically, and via telephone under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.

Assists in delivering healthcare services to patients of diverse backgrounds and ages, maintaining positive relationships with patients and their families.

Works effectively with fellow employees to ensure the efficient flow of patients throughout their visit, providing support to them as well as to the attending physician.

Communicates via phone to ensure patient needs are met timely and accurately. Accesses company data systems to document pertinent medical information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports patients and providers throughout the patient visit.
  • Ensures patients and providers are prepared for the visit.
  • Ensures patients' questions are answered prior to leaving, prepares room for next appointment.
  • Provides excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person.
  • Completes appropriate documentation, including patient registration if necessary.
  • Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials through personal professional development.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with and maintaining confidential information, including experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Medical Assistant Certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a formal medical assistant training program.
Work Environment

The incumbent works in a patient care area, works in an area where patients enter, works directly with patients, and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases.

The incumbent has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be an occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
