Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Audiologist to join our team at Ochsner LSU Health System. As an Audiologist, you will be responsible for administering diagnostic audiological exams, counseling patients and families regarding test results, and reviewing options for hearing healthcare needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess auditory function in patients of all ages, including newborns and individuals with hearing impairments.
  • Communicate complex medical and diagnostic information to patients and their families in a clear and concise manner.
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic audiological evaluations, including newborn hearing screenings and otoacoustic emissions.
  • Evaluate patients for candidacy of hearing aids and implantable devices, and provide rehabilitation options to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Facilitate departmental practice by scheduling and coordinating appointments, and assisting with the orientation and training of new employees.
  • Fits and calibrates hearing aids for patients, and conducts auditory brainstem response evaluations as needed.
  • Adapt behavior to meet the specific needs of each patient population, including respect for patient privacy and effective communication.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Audiology or a Doctor of Audiology Doctorate (Au.D.) in the state of practice.
  • 1 year of experience in the audiology field.
  • Current hearing aid license in the state of practice.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred.
Physical and Environmental Demands

The physical demands of this role include exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This role requires working in a healthcare setting with potential exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste.
