Job Title: Mechanical Designer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team at Actalent. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for creating complex 3D models and assemblies using Shipconstructor, collaborating with engineers and designers to develop CAD models, and generating precise technical drawings and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop 3D models and assemblies using Shipconstructor
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop CAD models
  • Generate technical drawings and documentation
  • Assist in design optimization for manufacturing efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews and checks
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and deadlines
Requirements:
  • Proficiency with Shipconstructor
  • SolidWorks experience (nice to have)
  • Design experience within shipbuilding (preferred)
  • Knowledge of piping, HVAC, hull, and structures

Work Environment:

This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Arlington, Virginia and some days remote. For a junior position, candidates will need to be more on-site than not. Ideally based in Arlington but can be in Virginia Beach as well. There will be ship checks that they have to go to Virginia Beach for. Having a security clearance is ideal.
