Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee automated ordering systems and support initiatives aimed at consolidating purchases to achieve cost efficiencies.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis of suppliers, identify alternative sourcing options, and resolve supply chain issues with vendors.
- Ensure that all purchasing activities adhere to established policies and procedures.
Collaboration and Communication: Foster a positive work environment by collaborating with team members and vendors to address backorder situations and secure acceptable product substitutions as necessary.
Negotiation and Vendor Management: Engage in negotiations concerning pricing, terms, and delivery of pharmaceuticals, while monitoring wholesaler performance and addressing any discrepancies to recover lost funds.
Quality Assurance: Evaluate off-contract and non-formulary purchases, ensuring adequate justification for such transactions. Regularly review recalls and maintain up-to-date knowledge of vendor contracts.
Financial Oversight: Manage price changes and ensure that orders align with quoted prices and contract terms. Maintain accurate records of borrowed and loaned medications, reconciling monthly information with involved hospitals.
Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with wholesalers to enhance automated ordering and inventory control systems, seeking opportunities to streamline supply chain processes and reduce costs.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; two years of college preferred.
- Three years of relevant experience in pharmacy and/or purchasing, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Licensed Pharmacy Technician (LPHT) required.
Skills and Competencies: Demonstrated proficiency in procurement processes, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team. Proficient in computer systems and software applications relevant to the role.
