About the Role

ECS Limited is seeking a highly skilled and certified Laboratory Technician II to join our team in College Park. As a key member of our Construction Materials Testing (CMT) team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of laboratory testing for various projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specific tasks associated with conducting laboratory testing on construction materials under the supervision of senior technicians and other lab staff.
  • Assist in preparation for and demonstrations of testing procedures as requested.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance.
  • Assist with tasks to maintain laboratory organization and cleanliness in compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) initiatives to maintain accreditation compliance.
  • Notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests for soils including Atterberg limits, gradation analyses, swell testing, moisture content testing, unconfined compressive strength testing, standard and modified proctor testing, and begin learning how to visually classify soils.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests for concrete including labeling and setting samples for curing, monitoring temperature logs, and breaking of samples.
  • Perform calculations and data reduction based on test results.
  • Demonstrate competency of testing methods by documenting results accurately using laboratory software.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience.
  • Must have and be willing to maintain laboratory certifications for concrete, soils, or both depending on where work is performed.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
  • Must have valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Willing to continue to enhance knowledge of CMT laboratory equipment, testing methods, and ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, or both.
  • Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors.
