Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Department Director and Chair to design, implement, and assess the curriculum for the PA Department.
  • Guide and support departmental staff and faculty in the coordination and delivery of the curriculum.
  • Engage in teaching, assessing, and mentoring students.
  • Act as a liaison with relevant offices and departments to enhance medical allied health education through external partnerships.
  • Recruit, orient, and evaluate adjunct faculty members.
  • Provide constructive feedback to instructors to enhance their teaching methodologies.
  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of teaching and learning within the curriculum.
  • Advise students on academic and professional matters, referring them to appropriate resources as necessary.
  • Support the Department Director and Chair in ongoing assessments and reporting of curriculum effectiveness for self-study purposes.
  • Engage with key external organizations to promote the PA Department's programs.
  • Contribute to the preparation of grants, reports, and accreditation-related self-studies.
  • Assist in the creation of instructional materials and resources for faculty.
  • Monitor student progress and serve as a primary academic advisor for a designated group of students.
  • Review educational literature and learning resources to keep faculty informed of innovative teaching strategies.
  • Participate in the recruitment process by reviewing applications and conducting interviews for PA Department programs.
  • Attend faculty and staff meetings, providing updates on departmental activities.
  • Advise prospective students regarding program requirements and participate in recruitment initiatives.
  • Assist in the ongoing editing of informational materials related to the PA Department's programs.
  • Guide and assess student Master's Capstone projects required for graduation.
  • Serve on various University, School, and Department committees as assigned by the ASHS Dean and PA Department Chair.
  • Participate in University, College, and Department events, including graduation ceremonies and inter-professional activities.
  • Engage in scholarly activities as outlined in the University Faculty Handbook.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the department chair.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree is required; a doctoral degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in healthcare is necessary.
  • Preferred experience includes at least one year in a faculty leadership role.
  • Familiarity with PA practice competencies is essential.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver medical course instruction effectively.
  • Strong independent working capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills are required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in team settings.
  • Knowledge of entry-level PA curriculum is advantageous.
