Position Summary
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, administration, and optimization of the organization's server and storage technologies. This role is crucial for ensuring high performance across various business applications by tuning servers as required. Key responsibilities include maintaining the availability of client/server applications, configuring new implementations, and developing comprehensive processes for ongoing server management.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate strategies for client/server deployments and architect the necessary infrastructure.
- Lead projects in the design and evaluation of new server systems, applications, and hardware; conduct capacity planning as needed.
- Create diagrams and schematics to clarify design details and functional criteria for both Lab and Production environments.
- Coordinate and engage in significant process improvements related to the client/server landscape.
- Collaborate with network engineering, business applications, and database administration to ensure server availability, reliability, and scalability.
- Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and technologies to maintain server security.
- Design, implement, and uphold a robust backup and disaster recovery strategy.
- Review help desk tickets related to server issues and prioritize responses accordingly.
- Act as a primary contact for escalating server-related issues and ensure timely resolutions.
- Manage file system configurations and execute server backup and recovery protocols.
- Plan and carry out server upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches.
- Monitor system performance and generate performance reports.
- Create shell scripts as necessary.
- Oversee enterprise directory services and the supporting server infrastructure.
- Define strategies for integrating diverse operating environments.
- Recommend modifications to enhance server efficiency, reliability, and performance.
- Develop and maintain training materials and documentation related to server operations.
- Prepare equipment and documentation for Change Management approval for production deployment.
- Guide and mentor junior team members.
- Exhibit a commitment to responsible gaming and service standards by notifying management of any concerns.
- Demonstrate actions that align with the organization's Mission and Values.
- Ensure timely reporting of any illegal activities or ethical violations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience is required.
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience in managing server environments.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to research server-related issues and products as necessary.
- Capable of presenting ideas in a user-friendly manner.
- Highly self-motivated with a strong attention to detail.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Experience in a collaborative, team-oriented setting.
- Advanced knowledge and at least two years of experience with storage technologies such as SAN or NAS.
- Five or more years of experience with Microsoft operating systems, PowerShell scripting, SQL Server, and VMWare.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft O365, and SharePoint is preferred.
- The work environment is dynamic and can be noisy and crowded. Exposure to various environmental factors may occur.
- Effective communication in English is essential for fulfilling position responsibilities.
