Host/Hostess Job Description

The Oliver Hotel in Oxford is seeking a charismatic and attentive Host/Hostess to provide exceptional guest experiences.

As the first point of contact, you will set the tone for a memorable stay by extending a warm welcome and ensuring seamless service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Familiarize yourself with the menu, including daily specials, and accurately describe dishes to guests.
  • Maintain the dining room's cleanliness and organization, restocking condiments as needed.
  • Greet guests warmly, creating a positive first impression.
  • Assist with clearing and wiping down tables, setting up for the next party.
  • Handle reservations, resolve seating issues, and troubleshoot phone inquiries.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle customer requests and situations with a pleasant demeanor.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced team environment, with long hours of standing and moving.
  • Prior experience in food services or hospitality is preferred but not required.
