Job Description

At Currency Cloud, we're seeking a highly skilled Lead Systems Engineer to lead our Monitoring and Observability platform. This platform is critical to our business, providing the tooling, practices, and visibility that our development and engineering teams rely on to deliver, observe, and maintain our product suite.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a low-friction, highly secure, highly available, cost-effective, and consistent toolchain to deliver effective tools for monitoring, observing, and operating software in the framework of large enterprise compliance and governance needs.
  • Work closely with operation and infrastructure leadership, software development leadership, architecture, PMO, and vendors from around the globe to deliver these services.
  • Design, automate, maintain, and optimize observability platforms, including logging, metrics, and tracing.
  • Deliver large-scale systems using big data technologies, such as Enterprise scale Kafka, Splunk, Prometheus, and other Time Series databases.
  • Rationalize and implement monitoring and observability toolchains at enterprise scale.
  • Experience with automation tools, such as Chef and Ansible.
  • Ability to work in a remote team across multiple regions and time zones.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Background in both Systems and Software Engineering.
  • Knowledge in AWS+Terraform, GCP, and Azure architecture, service, and security.
  • Competent developing software in 1 or more of Python, Golang, Ruby, C (implement defensive programming, error handling, testing frameworks).
  • Experience in designing, automating, maintaining, and optimizing observability platforms.
  • Expertise and experience in delivering large-scale systems using big data technologies.
  • Abreast of industry standards and trends related to telemetry and software pipelines.
  • Experience rationalizing and implementing monitoring and observability toolchains at enterprise scale.
  • Hands-on experience consolidating application and system logs at enterprise scale.
  • Experience working in a remote team across multiple regions and time zones.
