Job Summary:

As a Speech Pathologist at Sparrow Health System, you will be responsible for evaluating patient needs for therapy to restore function, prevent disability, and maximize potential and quality of life in areas of speech, language, swallowing, feeding, cognitive, and oral motor performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform speech therapy patient evaluations to assess patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
Develop realistic, functional goals mutually agreed upon with the patient/family, incorporating interdisciplinary and patient-centered approaches whenever possible.
Employ principles of teaching and learning to educate patients and their families in knowledge and skills promoting restoration of function for optimal performance.
Perform speech/dysphagia treatment according to established plans, utilizing all available modalities, equipment, and techniques within the scope of speech therapy.
Document patient status and progress through initial evaluation, progress notes, and discharge summary, adhering to established internal/external time standards and reimbursement guidelines.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, rehabilitation programs, and related rehabilitation activities.
Actively participate in case conference, care rounds, and family meetings to progress patient toward rehab goals and discharge planning.

Requirements:

Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited program.
Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech/Language Pathology from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or eligible for clinical fellowship year.
Licensed in the state of Michigan.
Possess and maintain CPR certification to meet department/program protocol.
