About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Development Engineer to join our team at Raytheon in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. As a key member of our Ground & Maritime Defense Radar Software Department, you will work on the Patriot Multi Echelon Training (PMET) Team, developing and testing new Training capabilities utilizing the latest in gaming technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to team planning meetings and presentations to drive project success.
  • Translate software requirements and specifications into logical design artifacts, develop software code, unit test and integrate code, and analyze software defects.
  • Maintain existing features and develop new features for the software using Object-Oriented (OO) methodology.
  • Support the generation of documentation, including software development folders, design presentations, and problem reports.
  • Determine failure root cause, develop, design, and implement solutions.
  • Analyze system performance versus technical requirements, research, and make SW/Systems improvement recommendations.
  • Interact extensively with other groups, including Requirements, Software, Integration, and Validation engineers.
  • Some off-hours activity in a software development facility may be necessary.
  • Work on all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, tools, and methodologies.
Requirements
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of experience.
  • 3+ years of Unreal Engine experience.
  • 3+ years of modeling, animation, rendering, and visualization experience.
  • 5+ years of programming experience in C++.
  • 3+ years of programming experience in C#.
  • Demonstrable understanding of OOP principles, scalability considerations, and software development best practices.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Game development experience using the Unreal Engine.
  • 3D modeling and animation using Autodesk 3ds Max.
  • Experience with Perforce configuration management tool.
  • Knowledge of systems software design, operating systems, architectures, software development life cycle, and processes.
  • Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM, DevOps, and test automation.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including the ability to produce technical documentation, and the desire to learn new technologies and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.
