Job Summary

The Student Health Care Specialist provides specialized health care services and procedures to students. This is an itinerant position, and the specialist may perform assigned duties at school sites, during student transportation, or at offsite locations based on student needs. The specialist reports to special education and school site administrators and receives direction from District Nurses.

Requirements / Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, candidates must have:

  • LVN or RN certification
  • CPR/First Aid Certification

Online First Aid certificates are acceptable, but CPR must include hands-on classroom training.

Selection Process

This recruitment is posted as continuous filing. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be added to a continuous filing eligibility list, which is valid for six months. Selection interviews will be scheduled as candidates qualify until both vacancies are filled.

The competitive basis for this recruitment is Open/Promotional-Dual Certification. Veterans may be eligible for preference points on examinations. Please attach a copy of your DD214 to your application.

Employment with San Dieguito Union High School District is contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer background check, fingerprinting, physical exam, including tuberculosis, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance.

The probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer.
