Salary: $26-$29 per hour (estimated annual salary: $54,000-$60,400)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Payroll and Compensation Specialist to join our team in Newburyport, MA. This full-time, temporary role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and reconcile employee time worked and other pay, including deductions
- Verify employee deductions for each payroll, including taxes, benefits, and others
- Audit, analyze, and reconcile multiple payroll reports to ensure accuracy before finalizing the biweekly payroll
- Create and/or adjust payroll pay and benefit codes alongside ADP
- Manage year-end payroll tasks, including approval of annual W-2s
- Register new state jurisdictions and collaborate with the CPA for final approval
- Stay up-to-date with changing payroll policies and government regulations via ADP notifications and apply changes when needed
- Prepare manual payroll checks for errors and terminations
- Work with ADP for quarterly tax adjustments
- Reconcile monthly health, dental, disability, and life insurance bills to payroll deductions and approve payment
- Prepare journal entries on a biweekly basis and provide final month-end entry spreadsheet to accounting
- Prepare the monthly reconciliation and journal creation of Flex Spending and Health Plan
- Create and/or audit payroll and headcount reports for external auditors
- Support annual workers' compensation audit and act as primary contact for external auditor
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience processing payroll
- Minimum 3 years of experience required with ADP payroll system or comparable automated payroll system
- Strong proficiency in using MS Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and attention to detail
- Associates degree required in business, human resources, or similar field
