About the Position:

The Instructional Coach will report to the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and will be responsible for supporting teachers in their professional development and ensuring that they have the knowledge and materials needed to teach the Shelby County Courses of study.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deliver high-quality professional development to teachers on curriculum and instruction
  • Develop and implement effective instructional strategies with teachers
  • Collaborate with school administrators and other coaches to ensure consistency and alignment across the district
  • Evaluate teacher performance and provide feedback for growth and improvement

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree or higher and valid Alabama teaching certification
  • Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Deep knowledge of and experience in curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to deliver quality professional development to teachers
  • Previous coaching or teacher leadership experience preferred

Terms of Employment:

  • Nine-month contract (187 days)
