Job Overview

At GE Renewable Energy Power and Aviation, we are dedicated to supporting our clients in achieving successful production in additive manufacturing. As a vital member of the Application Development Team, you will engage in additive design consulting, guiding clients to identify optimal additive applications and oversee the product development process. This role encompasses delivering training, designing and developing innovative products, collaborating with customer teams, and facilitating physical prototyping and departmental initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties
  • Engage directly with clients in a consulting capacity, assisting them throughout their additive manufacturing journey. This includes providing training, identifying suitable parts, designing components for additive manufacturing, generating support, and conducting distortion modeling for metal additive manufacturing across various modalities such as DMLM, EBM, and Binder Jet.
  • Conduct design, analysis, or evaluation of individual and team projects, applying sound engineering principles while adhering to established business standards and program requirements.
  • Offer technical leadership to cross-functional teams involved in the assigned projects.
  • Develop and implement plans to meet the technical specifications of assigned components and systems.
  • Create action plans to address issues and challenges as they arise.
  • Participate in teams focused on organizational initiatives and broader issues.
  • Advise on approaches to fulfill technical and program requirements.
  • Engage in technical and program reviews, presenting findings and recommendations.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects in accordance with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to travel globally up to 25% of the time.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 6 years of engineering experience in industries such as aerospace, transportation, medical, power, renewable energy, or oil & gas.
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing technologies and design principles.
  • Experience in external customer consulting.
  • Proficient in one or more CAD systems, such as NX, CREO, or CATIA.
  • Experience with mechanical and thermal simulation tools, including ANSYS, Hypermesh, or CFD.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic, startup-like environment within a global team.
  • Innovative thinkers who can approach mechanical design from non-traditional perspectives.
  • Capable of handling a wide range of tasks from conceptualization to detailed design.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
  • Solid technical understanding of increasingly complex components and systems.
  • Ability to influence peers and lead small teams.
  • Lead initiatives with moderate scope and impact.
