Infection Control Specialist

The Infection Control Coordinator is a Registered Nurse who plays a crucial role in preventing and controlling infections within our healthcare system. This position requires a strong understanding of infection prevention and control principles, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate infection prevention and control activities to reduce hospital-acquired infections and prevent staff exposure to infectious diseases.
- Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures, including isolation protocols and the Infection Prevention Control Program plan.
- Conduct surveillance and monitoring of laboratory reports on C diff, MRSA, CAUTI, CLABSI, and SSI, and communicate findings to clinical leaders and the Quality Council.
- Collaborate with the Quality Director and Infection Control RN to conduct rounds on inpatient units and monitor compliance with infection prevention practices and standards.
- Provide education and training to hospital staff, medical staff, and contract personnel on infection prevention and control principles.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of products related to cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of the environment and/or devices and equipment.
- Assist with employee health activities and travel offsite to administer employee vaccinations.
- Active Mississippi RN license, nursing or similar professional healthcare degree.
- Certification in Infection Control is preferred but can be obtained after working in the position for a specified time.
- Requires access to CDC's NHSN, which can be obtained after hire.
- Tuberculosis skin testing certification and BLS certification required.
The incumbent will occasionally climb stairs, walk, see, stand, reach, listen, lift, carry, and perform other physical demands as outlined in the job description.
