About the Role

Gresham Smith is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Industrial team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering electrical engineering solutions for a variety of industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine scope, budget, and schedule for each task and perform design and/or assign tasks to team members and monitor for conformance to plan.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate electrical engineering work and prepare engineering reports, plans, and specifications for various projects.
  • Prepare and review plans and technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates, and participate in contract bidding and administration.
  • Support and observe the design and ongoing progress of a project, communicate and interact with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others as appropriate to the project.
  • Provide leadership and assign electrical design job functions to designated engineers and designers and supervise their efforts in completing the project on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate in solving complex engineering problems, design electrical components and systems for industrial facilities, research codes, and apply knowledge of code requirements and standards to designs.
  • Determine, analyze, and interpret clients' needs and requirements, identify all project inputs needed to proceed efficiently on assigned tasks, and produce contract documents including drawings and specifications.
  • Perform calculations, complete layouts and arrangements, prepare project cost and schedule estimates, visit construction sites to observe existing conditions, and conduct inspections for quality control and assurance programs.
  • Provide technical assistance when problems are encountered before, during, and after construction, collaborate with others to identify, define, and solve design issues, and review preliminary and final electrical design with other disciplines for function, clearances, coordination, and final design selection.
Requirements
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years' of electrical design experience serving manufacturing and industrial clients
  • P.E. license with education experience necessary to obtain licensure in other states by reciprocity
  • Knowledge of large power transformers, power generation, transmission, operation, and maintenance of power system distribution systems (110vac to 138kvac), harmonic analysis, cable and buss capacity analysis, and load flow analysis
  • Experience in electrical design for facility and infrastructure projects, including design of power, lighting, grounding, and lightning protection, alarm systems, control systems for building equipment, communications, access controls, and security systems
  • Strong working knowledge of national safety electrical codes and standards
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously, strong team player that effectively coordinates with other team members throughout design, and communicates effectively with both verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous design and detailing experience using REVIT and AutoCAD is preferred, experience with lighting calculation software such as AGI-32, ElumTools, and/or Visual, and experience with power system analysis software such as SKM Powertools or ETAP is also preferred
  • LEED accreditation is preferred, and a valid Driver License is required to travel to job sites
Desirable Skills
  • Digitally curious and comfortable diving in and working with coding and automation
  • Design automation skills, including the application of parametric design tools such as Dynamo and Grasshopper
  • Software Coding, especially with Python and/or C#
  • Working with Revit's API
  • Power BI for data visualization
