Mission Impact: The Sales Associate plays a crucial role in the daily operations of our mission-driven retail environment. This position is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient management of store operations, which in turn supports the development and placement of individuals we serve.

Organizational Structure: Working under the guidance of the Store Manager, the Sales Associate is an integral part of the Donated Goods Retail Operations team. Responsibilities include processing transactions, maintaining a well-stocked and appealing store, and delivering exceptional customer service. Additionally, this role involves assisting in the training and development of fellow team members, clients, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize a computerized register system effectively.
  • Perform basic financial calculations for cash handling and register reconciliation.
  • Count and reconcile the cash drawer before and after each shift.

•Deliver outstanding customer service by welcoming customers and addressing inquiries regarding store operations and merchandise.
  • Meet production standards for sorting, pricing, stocking, and displaying merchandise.
  • Ensure proper rotation of products on the sales floor.
  • Sort and process donations in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Perform basic calculations to track donations and production metrics.
  • Handle incoming donations safely and efficiently, including the use of a pallet jack.
  • Assist in the training and development of team members in line with Goodwill policies.
Essential Duties:
  • Maintain punctual and reliable attendance.
  • Exhibit professionalism and a friendly demeanor towards customers and colleagues.
  • Assist with loading and unloading merchandise as required.
  • Support store security measures.
  • Notify management of inventory levels, including low and overstocked items.
  • Perform janitorial duties as necessary.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures regarding sales, exchanges, cash handling, and safety.
  • Ensure a positive experience for both customers and donors.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Complete other assigned tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:

•High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

•Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

•Must successfully pass skills and knowledge assessments.

•Pass a drug test and criminal background check.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to assist individuals with disabilities.

Physical requirements include the ability to twist, bend, squat, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, and pull. The employee must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and utilize equipment for items over 40 pounds. Common items include bags of clothing, electronics, and furniture.

The work environment is primarily indoors, with occasional exposure to outdoor temperatures and allergens. The noise level is moderate.
