About the Position

The County of Sonoma, CA is seeking a highly skilled Health Services Internal Auditing Accountant to join their team. As a key member of the Department of Health Services, this role plays a crucial part in maintaining financial integrity within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Accounting Systems: Design and implement new analysis tools, accounting, and cost systems to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.
  • Internal Analysis and Compliance: Perform internal analysis and review of contracted agency records to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Fiscal Effectiveness and Recommendations: Review internal program fiscal effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Audit Findings and Recommendations: Submit audit findings and recommendations to the Supervising Accountant for review by the DHS Fiscal Audit Committee.
  • Fiscal Solvency and Accuracy: Ensure fiscal solvency and accuracy in financial reporting to comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Fiscal/Cost Report Analysis: Perform fiscal/cost report analysis and Medi-Cal Administrative Activities.
  • Sub-Recipient Single Audit Reports: Review sub-recipient single audit reports to confirm proper reporting of awards.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would provide opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, possession of a college degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with at least 12 semester or 16 quarter units of Accounting, including Principles of Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Governmental Accounting, Cost Accounting or Auditing.
  • License: Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level, including special endorsements, as required by the State of California.
