Job Summary

Block Institute is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pool Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our aquatic team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff while using the pool.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce Safety Protocols: Enforce all established safety and health rules to provide a safe and comfortable aquatic environment.
  • Emergency Response: Provide proper care for emergencies that occur in the pool and locker room areas.
  • Pool Deck Presence: Maintain a constant presence on the pool deck while any activity is occurring within the pool or pool area.
  • Swim Technique Assistance: Assist children with swim techniques from inside the pool.
  • Pool Area Security: Ensure that the pool area is vacant before it is locked, secured, and alarmed.
  • Chemical Management: Check and record Chlorine and PH readings 3x/day at minimum. Notify Aquatics Coordinator and/or maintenance of any chemical issues.
  • Pool Maintenance: Clean and store all pool equipment when pool is not in use. Vacuum the pool at least 1x/week, or as needed. Scrub pool scum lines 1x/month, or as needed.
  • Reporting and Scheduling: Report broken items to Aquatics Coordinator or maintenance. Assist in preparing orders of pool supplies and materials. Assist in scheduling all pool activities.
  • Pool Activity Planning: Recommend and assist in organizing appropriate pool/swim activities for children and adults using the pool.
  • Log Keeping: Maintain daily log of who accesses the pool.
  • General Housekeeping: General housekeeping of locker rooms and pool deck.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Lifeguard Certification: Lifeguard Certification required.
