Job Summary:
The Packer is an essential member of the manufacturing team at Bonnell Aluminum, responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of finished products. This role involves packing and preparing products for shipment, adhering to customer specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform packing functions according to documented customer specifications.
- Verify that all metal is packed properly and adequately secured.
- Tag each bundle with a packing label.
- Ensure that all parts being packed meet Bonnell Aluminum's quality standards.
- Measure part length and verify that they meet the requirements of the shop order.
- Inspect parts for surface defects, scratches, blisters, die lines, and streaks.
- Inspect parts for bow and twist conditions.
- Record all data on required paperwork or on the EPICS system.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, line leaders, and coworkers.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Report any quality or equipment concerns to the supervisor.
- Work independently at a good pace.
- Be aware of conditions and hazards associated with the job.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor, which may require temporary transfer to another department.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and always without air conditioning.
Requirements:
- Must be able to read and understand shop orders.
- Must be able to read and understand tape measures.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to use banding equipment, air nail gun, and radial arm wood saw.
- Must be able to read and understand Bonnell shop orders.
- Must be able to understand decimals, fractions, and tolerances.
- Must be able to use various quality gauges.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic math skills.
