Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic Spiritual Care Specialist to join our team at (405901) Medical Services of America Hospice of the Lowcountry. As a full-time Hospice Chaplain, you will provide spiritual support to patients and their families in North Charleston, SC.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct spiritual care to patients and families, addressing their emotional, social, and spiritual needs.

• Collaborate with healthcare teams, clergy, and community groups to enhance sensitivity to spiritual concerns.

• Participate in patient conferences to assess spiritual needs and report on services provided.

• Develop and maintain a resource group of clergy for delegation of spiritual care tasks.

• Arrange for on-call availability of chaplain services as needed.

• Visit patients and families in their homes, with minimal after-hours work required.

• Attend biweekly IDT meetings to discuss patient care and spiritual support plans.

Requirements:

• At least one unit of clinical pastoral education (CPE) is required.

• Master of Divinity Degree from an accredited seminary or school of theology is necessary.

• Previous experience as a hospital and/or hospice chaplain is preferred, along with the ability to be open, flexible, and ecumenical.

• Experience working with patients and families dealing with life-threatening illness and death is essential.

• Valid driver's license is required.
